"We become everything we say we are, so speak it all into existence." – Ruby Veridiano-Ching

Month: April, 2011

We are 7,764 miles apart…

And I still feel your presence. It’ll never leave me. There will always be this part of you in my life as I’ll forever carry the poise, the wisdom and the infinite strength you’ve instilled in me.

As always I’ve been keeping you in my prayers since you left and five years later with the news I’ve received this morning, today is no different. God is beside you, Nanay. My thoughts and my words among these prayers are still holding strong for you.

History comes up JUMBO

Round 1 ended with Cap’n Jumbo with the game winning goal and THE celebration of the post-season. Round 2 begins tomorrow against the Red Wings. I see you, Detroit.

History WILL be made.

Right quick brownie mug

It’s no surprise, I have a massive sweet tooth. For a while now cupcakes have been the sweet gluttony of my life. Even as the hype dies down, I’m still so much in love with cupcakes. Nothing can replace my undying vice for them. But brownies… oohhh brownies they’re a different story. My love for brownies run longer than my track record for cuppycakes. Since I were a kid, my mom would bake my brother and I brownies whenever there were a family party. Along with my aunt’s layered jello (the jello was boss btw), my mom would pair the desserts table with homemade chocolatey goodness. So when I found this Five-Minute Chocolate Mug Cake recipe on iVillage.com, my mouth dropped.

…Only five minutes? Forreal? That’s CAKE (pun intended). That is pure heaven for anyone who doesn’t have patience to bake. And heaven for those folks who don’t know how to turn on an oven.

So upon my discovery just minutes ago, I have yet to personally try this. But by the looks of the comments already it seems like it works. Next time I go to the grocery store, I’m definitely adding these ingredients to my shopping list and doing a test run. I want my own chocolate mug cake!

Time to take my own advice for once

Her: I hate where I am in life.
Me: This part of your life will soon be over. Just know that like your feelings this shit ain’t permanent. Just hang in there.
Her: I hope a part of you is listening to what you tell me.

Right now the monsters have turned me into a robot

At the moment life seems as if its’ moving too fast for me to collect myself. My surroundings almost don’t feel familiar to me anymore. Sometimes I feel like I’m in a different world here captivated for hours at a time without a view of what the outside looks from the inside.

Mentally I’m on cruise control only moving to the motions of what my job entails. I speak, I act, I cater movements parallel to a robot with a cold heart. Never delving any deeper with each encounter, I’ve masked myself into this being I’ve never wanted to be. I’ve become immune to their requests and cynical towards their existence.

On work days, I’ve come to realize the best part of my days are my mornings. My mornings seem to be the only moment of peace for me to do what I love doing: meditate, write, catch up w/ the homies, read, listen to music, watch hockey and drink tea. For about only two hours each day, this is where I can finally cater to only myself. This is where I feel free – I feel infinite.

Now I can only wait for that moment where I can say I feel this way the whole day and not just for two hours.

Cigarettes In The Theatre

Yesterday, while I was at work my neighbor, Jen called me up with a proposal I couldn’t refuse: an extra tix to go see Two Door Cinema Club at The Fillmore. Apparently since her friend had to bail last minute she had no one to go with. So she took a chance on me in hopes I knew who TDCC was so I could come with.

She was in luck cause thanks to my Rolo, I’ve been listening to this band for a while and my love for them have been accruing since. So I went. And I’ll say now, I’m glad I went because this TDCC show was by far one of the best rock shows I’ve been to. And I say that with confidence considering my past experience with shows with bands like this. In high school, Jen and I used to go to a lot of indie rock shows, all of which most have been NOTHING like this one. This show wasn’t at all remotely like the scene we’ve encountered. Several of the past ones I’ve been to have either disappointed me in some way whether it were the sound system, the drunk belligerent next to me or the shallow pit in front of me, I’d get irritated somehow. But this one wasn’t like that at all. The band was sounded exactly the way their record did except almost better. To see live music the way they performed it made the show what it was.

Everything about their set made us feel infinite with happiness. I remember when we first reached the floor and heard the music, I couldn’t help but jump around and dance with the friendly strangers surrounding me. The music along with the invoked atmosphere just hit me on a level that threw me on a level where reality and fear of embarrassing dance moves didn’t matter at all. All of which are supplements to make a good live show.

So shout out to Neigh once again. Thank you for making that call and giving me that spare ticket. And thank you for TDCC for passing through the city on your way to Coachella.

Addendum- to the folks who still don’t know who Two Door Cinema Club is, get to know them. I’m sure they’ll be blowing up real soon. Trust.

NHL Playoffs: Quarterfinals Game 1 #BeatLA

If you follow my Twitter or are friends with me on facebook — shoot if you even talk to me on a daily basis, you’d notice a few changes in my mannerisms. All of a sudden my clothes have changed from earthtones to black and teal. My default picture on fb has altered from a photo of me to a photo of Pavs. And when you ask me to hang out, I don’t immediately say yes, instead I first check the Sharks’ game schedule. Cause if you didn’t know it’s muthafuggin’ NHL playoff season and for right now NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

With that said, I’ll proceed with a huge “FCK YEAH!” in lieu of last night’s game. In our playoff season home opener, my boys won an exciting Game 1 against the Los Angeles Kings thanks to my favorite, Joe Pavelski launching a rocket into the net for the OT game winner.  Yee!

Welcome to Sharks Territory.
